Atlanta Georgia Medical Cannabis Card

Atlanta is a city where a fifteen-mile trip can take an hour. A weekday appointment near Midtown or the Perimeter means the Downtown Connector, I-285, or GA-400 in both directions, plus parking. For a visit that is essentially a records review and a physician conversation, that cost is difficult to justify.

Because the certification visit is conducted by video on a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform, an Atlanta patient books a time, completes the intake forms, uploads records and identification, and joins from a phone. Nothing about the process requires being physically present anywhere. Patients in Grant Park, Buckhead, East Atlanta, West End and the northern suburbs all have the same experience.

Most Atlanta patients are already inside one of a handful of large systems, and all of them make records self-service. Emory Healthcare patients use the Emory patient portal to download visit notes, imaging reports and laboratory results directly. Piedmont Healthcare patients use MyChart, which covers Piedmont Atlanta and the affiliated practices. Northside Hospital patients access records through the Northside portal, and Grady Health System patients through MyGrady.

What you are looking for is the note from the clinician who diagnosed or treats your qualifying condition, plus any confirming test — a pathology report, an MRI report, electrodiagnostic testing, serology, or an evaluation from the relevant specialty. If your care is spread across systems, which is common in Atlanta, gather what you can from each portal. Anything you cannot retrieve can be requested from your treating physician with your permission.

After a successful visit, the State of Georgia contacts you by email. You pay the state fee and the Medical Cannabis Card arrives in the mail at your Atlanta address. The practice fee and the state fee are separate charges paid to separate parties.
